You assumed a gigantic form and destroyed the demons and thus accomplished the mission of Rama.
Assuming a terrible form he killed many demons because demons were huge and terrible. When he entered Lanka alone, that time also he killed demons and instilled a terror in them . During the war between Rama and Ravana he killed many brave demons with his overwhelming might. He changed his forms suiting various occasions , to bring under control or to set in order , situations confronting his divine master Shri Rama and executed the task assigned to him with masterly skill.
