Hanuman Chalisa chaupai 39
Jo yah padhai hanumana chalisa ,
Hoi siddhi sakhi gaurisa .
He who reads these forty verses dedicated to Hanuman, becomes perfect ( shall attain fulfillment of all desires worldly and spiritual ). Lord Shiva is witness to this fact.
One who recites the Hanuman Chalisa -the forty chaupais comprising this hymn, extolling the spiritual excellence of Hanuman and supplicating for his grace , would become a siddha purusha. A siddha purusha is one who has fulfilled the mission of life. One who has utilized the human body as a field for ' sadhana ' and turned it into an instrument for acquiring complete unity with God.
Lord Shankara is witness to this fact. Gaurisa means the consort of Gauri namely Parvati. So the term refers to Shiva.
The central theme of Hanuman Chalisa is to seek eligibility for chanting the glory of Rama by earning guru's grace, which will bring about the purification of the mind, resulting in the realization of the supreme. The guru namely Hanuman 's grace will descend as a result of propitiating him and lodging him in one's heart. Since he is full to the brim with Rama, his advent in the mind and heart of the seeker will in fact be the dawn of divinity represented in Rama.
All later Ramayanas are narrated by Lord Shiva to Parvati. Lord Shiva, himself a devotee of Rama realizes the significance of devotion to Rama. Rama nama is the Taraka mantra. The word Taraka in sanskrit means that which redeems. Rama nama helps one to cross the ocean of this world. It is Shiva who is the propounder of Taraka mantra ( muttering the words Rama, Rama.) and whispers into the ears of the devotees and secures their liberation.
