You are the protector of the sages and saints, destroyer of demons and the most beloved of Shri Rama.
If a person is mighty, he should use his strength to help good people and destroy the wicked ones. That is the ideal might. Hanuman is the epitome of the ideal might. He has been the protector of the noble saints and seers who spread virtues on the earth and destroyer of the unholy forces of evil and darkness which are hindrances to righteousness and knowledge.
Rama's mission was the same. So no wonder, Hanuman is dear to Rama.
