In the minutest form you presented yourself before Sita and burnt Lanka appearing in a monstrous form.
Hanuman had all his yoga siddhis . He had the power to become small or big at will. When he went to meet mother Sita , he became so small so that he could approach her without being detected by the demon guards . Showing first his small form he won the confidence of Sita that he was a messenger of Rama and showed her big dangerous form with which he could burn the entire Lanka .
He assumed a huge form to burn down Ravana' s Lanka and also instil fear and terror in enemy's camp.
Since he could change his form at will, he did so intelligently to suit the occasion. Hanuman had the ability to take any form at will, a divine gift was possessed by none else other than Hanuman in the Vanara army. It was because of this quality in him , that he achieved success in every undertaking and he earned praise from Lankini , the demoness
