Hanuman Chalisa Chaupai - 40
Tulasidasa sada hari chera ,
Kijai natha hrdaya maha dera .
Oh Hanuman, Tulasidas always the servant of Lord Hari ( Rama ) prays that make your permanant residence in my heart.
The poet thinks that devotion cannot arise in the heart of a person without God's grace.
Tulasidasa, the writer of Hanuman Chalisa was a great devotee of Rama. That is why he wrote the immortal epic on Rama, the Ramacharitamanasa. He was a devotee of Hanuman also. It was by Hanuman's grace he had the vision of Rama and by his inspiration, he composed the great epic. Hanuman has become one with Rama and has no longer any separate identity on account of his selfless devotion to Rama. He is also the royal path to the abode of Rama.
The poet knows that Hanuman 's compassion will respond to his yearning. So he prays to Hanuman that Tulasidasa's heart should think of Him only and nothing else. Thus the poet's greatest prayer is that he may be granted the life of a true devotee.
Jai hanuman.
